UPenn, MS Roll 1563

Through the University of Virginia’s Rare Book School 2014 course, “The Medieval Manuscript in the 21st Century,” taught by Will Noel and Dot Porter at the University of Pennsylvania Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts, I designed a digital facsimile of a devotional/prayer roll from 15th-century England. My article describing the manuscript and its texts appears in Notes & Queries 63.2 (June 2016): 196–199.

  • Overview with catalog description, a video of a lightning presentation on the manuscript, and photos
  • Digital facsimile of the manuscript with close-up photos of notable details. Note: a full digital edition of this roll will eventually be available through the Digital Editing and the Medieval Manuscript Roll project as a product of the March DEMMR 2018 workshop at the University of Pennsylvania.

Special thanks to Will Noel and Dot Porter for their inspiring course on the future of medieval manuscripts in the digital age.
